The Rosie Project
I bought THE ROSIE PROJECT by Graeme Simsion after three weeks of waiting and pondering. My instinct kept prodding me to buy the book. When I started reading, I think I have a crush on Don Tillman. Right from the beginning.
Don's awkwardness and quirks are really rather charming. For example, he counts everything to its most precise timing. He has a fixed schedule down to eating lobsters every Tuesday […]
The Tao of Pooh
THE TAO OF POOH by Benjamin Hoff is a wonderful gem of a book. I finished reading it while traveling home today—caught in a flight delay and then commuting in the bus from the airport to home—to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. Lots of contemplation while I was at it.
Winnie-the-Pooh is one of my favorite bears (Paddington Bear is another one). Pooh is calm and reflective, and has a great personality.
Zinio
I discovered Zinio by accident. It all started with the subscription of Yoga Journal but without the clutter. I don’t want to have a pie of magazines building up again in my apartment, so when I saw the option to subscribe digitally through Zinio, I was beyond happy. It’s so cheap for international subscribers, […]
A Game of Thrones
I finally finished reading this mammoth of a novel, A GAME OF THRONES by George R. R. Martin. The original plan was to finish it last month but then, yes, it’s a big book.
If you like the stories of lords and ladies, kingdoms fighting and ruling—this may just be your cup of tea (or coffee, or beer). It’s categorized as a fantasy but in this first book, there isn’t much of that element yet. There is; however, lots of plotting, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, not to mention quite a bit of whoring going on.
The Magic: Practice Gratitude
I was attracted to the book because of its premise in practicing gratitude. Practicing gratitude is more than just saying the words thank you on the odd occasion as that doesn't make you and me a grateful person.
How to be Interesting
I’m glad I chanced upon HOW TO BE INTERESTING by Jessica Hagy at Borders. The book is in the lovely shade of blue too. It's full of charts (just the way I like it maybe because in my work I do charts. A lot.) The contents are listed in 10 simple steps making it super easy to read. I’ve already read the book twice while commuting in the bus this evening.
