Passage from DADOES:
Empathy, he once had decided, must be limited to herbivores or anyhow omnivores who could depart from a meat diet. Because, ultimately, the empathic gift blurred the boundaries between hunter and victim, between the successful and the defeated.
About me: Hi, my name is Alice. I’m a Malaysian polyglot and book blogger living in Huskvarna, Sweden. I moved to Sweden from Singapore with my (Singaporean) cat, Mister Pops, in August 2021.
I’m semi-retired, and when I’m not working, I read, sketch, indulge in photography, and experiment with foreign languages. I speak English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, and some Italian. My Swedish is steadily improving. I’m also the founder of Huskvarnas Kattvakt.
Listening to vinyl on my 1980s Mitsubishi DP-200 is one of my favorite pastimes. My small but cherished collection includes a standout favorite: the In The Mood For Love Soundtrack (花樣年華). In December 2023, I added a 1930s HMV 102 gramophone to the mix, and in early 2025, I picked up a secondhand 2015 Crosley Cruiser portable turntable.
About the blog: My virtual home, which started as aliceteh.com in 2005, is now 20 years old!—has evolved into alicetehlarsson.se. I created it to connect with fellow readers, language learners, hobbyists, and just about anyone to share my love for books, art, music, beautiful sentences, and creative musings.
