A Gift to Myself: Listening to Jiddu Krishnamurti
From today until the end of September, I plan to listen to a series of lectures given by Jiddu Krishnamurti in 1949 to an audience in Ojai, California. These lectures—14 of them—are digitally remastered recordings available in an audiobook collection from NLB.
Fun Fact: This intention was inspired by Bruce Lee.
Another Fun Fact: J. Krishnamurti was first mentioned many years ago by a very good friend in Singapore, from whom I have learned so much, and this friend is Isaiah L.
I have started listening to Lecture 1: Understanding Detachment. The pace is slow, but I find that I like that. I almost always either 1.25x or 1.5x all podcasts or audio materials, but this one deserves slow listening. The pauses feel intentional, giving space for the words to sink in, and I notice myself reflecting more deeply because of that.
This will be my birthday gift to myself in September—completing the entire series by then. With that, it is my wish that my library holds will be ready so that I can go through them as planned.
